Re: no FBX support

What is the output of these two commands

Code: Select all

...\Cafu> dir ExtLibs\fbx
...\Cafu> git log -1
?

What makes you think that FBX support doesn't work?

Re: building with the FBX library

I got your sample model, thanks. I can open it normally: it must be upscaled somewhat, works flawless, but obviously comes without any texture images. So I cannot see where "file not found" comes from? If you have trouble with another model, please send this to me or attach here as well. T...

Re: GUI issues

Hi arfur9,

I'm sorry to say that I don't understand anything in your posts (is this a question, after all?).
If there is a problem, please describe step by step what environment you're using (OS, source code version, etc.) and especially what you did and how the problem can be reproduced.

Re: Binary

Hi arfur9, welcome to the Cafu forums! :welcome: Yes, the 2016 binary was built without FBX support. The approach of building Cafu with FBX yourself is the right one, please let me know if it works out. However, please open a new thread for this. Keeping separate topics separate helps to manage and ...

Re: building with the FBX library

redid everything, sdk in place. I know I'm doing something wrong..but I need a step by step with GIT... Don't worry, you did everything right. On compile...same sort stuff, as if I haven't got your changes... No, there is progress! I don't use GIT, so any chance you can just tell me idiot styl...

Re: How do doors and lifts work?

Ok, sorry, I've been too brief above. Let's break it into steps: (I'm not sure what you mean by segment of an arc. Do you want the segment to initiate some action when it is touched, shot, clicked, ...?) Let's just assume that the segment is a solid piece of wall or floor and you want an action to o...

Re: building with the FBX library

Hi Brian, thanks for the information and console output! The problem was/is that Autodesk folks love making backwards-incompatible changes that, to the best of my knowledge, are scarcely documented. And I didn't update the Cafu code to match the latest FBX SDK either. :cheesy: Well, please run git p...

Re: How do doors and lifts work?

Hi Runi, please note that I've split your post, creating a new, standalone topic from it. That keeps discussions with different topics easier to follow. I guess it's best if you check out some of the example lifts and doors in the maps: Simple doors are in map Kidney, a simple lift is in AEonsCube. ...

About your question, can you please tell more about the source code that you're using? That is, how did you ...

Re: Fundamental flaw in directory structure = inoperable installation?

Ah, found the problem. If you want a quick solution, edit file CaWE/MapEditor/ChildFrame.cpp and replace in line 2357 -svGame with --sv-game and -svWorld with --sv-world , so that the result looks like this: PendingCompileCommands.PushBack(Options.general.EngineExe + " --sv-game \"" +...

Re: Fundamental flaw in directory structure = inoperable installation?

Hi Runi, I need a bit more information: ⋅  At what Git commit / branch is the source code that you use? ⋅  Are your maps kept at Games/DeathMatch/Maps/ and your world files (CaBSP creates them automatically) at Games/DeathMatch/Worlds/ ? ⋅  When you post console output,...

Re: Fundamental flaw in directory structure = inoperable installation?

Hi Runi, I assume you got this message in the console of the CaWE editor? If so, for a quick resolution, please try to run Cafu directly at the command-line if possible, using --help as necessary. The other console output should give you a clue about the values for the command line options. I'll als...

Re: Fundamental flaw in directory structure = inoperable installation?

Hi Runi, good to hear you made progress! Can you please check the paths in The Configure CaWE Options Dialog ? Use the "browse" buttons to find the relevant executables, then it should work. (If in doubt, in order to reduce efforts, start with the CaBSP executable and make sure that this i...

Re: Fundamental flaw in directory structure = inoperable installation?

Hi Runi, welcome to the Cafu forums! :welcome: About the executables, can you try and leave them in the places they've been built and just call them via their full path at the command line? Please see item 3 near the bottom of section Running the new Programs . This also helps with getting CaWE's wo...
