Re: Changing Player Size By Player Control

Hello, it's good to hear that you could already solve many of the problems yourself! FrameTime is the time that it took to render the previous frame, e.g. 0.03 seconds. The code in ComponentPlayerPhysicsT::ApplyAcceleration() computes how much the player's speed must change over FrameTime , tha...

Re: Changing Player Size By Player Control

Hello,
please give me some time for answering this. I'm currently very busy and will only be able to look into it over the weekend.
I'm very sorry that I cannot reply sooner, but I'll do my best!

Re: Accelerating The Map Compilation Process

I like the idea of separating areas with teleporters, this approach could turn out to be helpful in many regards. Regarding PVS, note that the interior of buildings is usually not a problem: the algorithm can work efficiently with indoor areas such as those in the example maps. The most problem...

Re: How do doors and lifts work?

A problem with rotating objects is their interaction with other objects, such as players or physics objects: It is difficult to determine what should happen if a rotating door pushes another object or if the object rides on a rotating platform. It's a while since I was last deeply familiar with the ...

Re: How do doors and lifts work?

Is it possible to restrict movement to only 1 axis? Such as in the case of a door rotating on its hinges? I'm not sure what you mean with 1 axis? At this time, we can only linearly translate mover entities. Rotation, unfortunately, it not yet possible (this should be added to class ComponentMoverT ).

Re: Accelerating The Map Compilation Process

Yes, that's right: small brushes cause the complexity of the PVS computations to significantly increase. You're also right about the purpose of the PVS. Unfortunately, I don't know a good way to accelerate the computations: If I did, I would have implemented it years ago. Another problem is that PVS...

Re: spam, spam.. how I loath it

so I would like to put the suggestion for Carsten to make some of the more active users moderators that have the power to delete posts that would be considered spam. That's certainly right, especially as there are occasionally strong spam waves, such as today and yesterday. The problem is that dele...

Re: Left Mouse Button Does Not Spawn Player

Ok, thanks for confirmation!

If you like, you can send me your map file so that I can have a look at the problem.
Alternatively, check if your player entity setup corresponds to the setup in the example maps.

Re: Left Mouse Button Does Not Spawn Player

Hello,
welcome to the Cafu forums! :welcome:

Which version are you using?
Ideally you should use a version compiled from the latest Git source code.

Re: What files are absolutely needed?

Yes, for a release, you can delete everything that is listed in source_dirs , please see: https://bitbucket.org/cafu/tools/src/master/make_binary.py#lines-208 but not CaWE/res and maybe some of the textures that you want to keep. Alternatively, maybe the function at https://bitbucket.org/cafu/tools/...

Re: What files are absolutely needed?

Dear xjonx,
welcome to the Cafu forums! :welcome:

Do you mind looking this up in the Python script that I use to make the Cafu binary release? Please have a look at:
https://bitbucket.org/cafu/tools/src/ma ... _binary.py

If you have trouble, I'll explain what the script does.

Re: Binary vs Latest Release?

Hello Ethael, I've just uploaded a new package, please see the Dive-In page at “Binary Releases”. Can you please try that? Please note that the active development of Cafu has slowed down somewhat over the last few years. This is because I'm very involved in a couple of other projects, so you may fin...

Re: Binary vs Latest Release?

Hi Ethael, sorry for the delay! Many details have changed since the previous binary release was made and I'll need a couple more days to bring everything up to date so that a new release can be built. I'll finish this as soon as possible and let you know as soon as it is available! Btw., I'm also in...
