Re: Face Me Script

While I can only vouch for the sky domes that ship with Cafu, I'm quite sure that all of them were made with Terragen, http://planetside.co.uk

Re: Face Me Script

Yes, you can use the 2-planes approach. That's how the plants are made in the TechDemo map: https://www.cafu.de/images/gallery/techdemo/pic0000.jpg https://www.cafu.de/images/gallery/techdemo/pic0005.jpg Same technique, but with models not in Cafu, made by others: https://www.cafu.de/images/gallery/...

Re: Face Me Script

Ok. Well, I can look into it, it may even help a bit with the GUI issue 157 . Can you describe a bit more detailed how your grass / trees are supposed to look like? That is, how many billboards do you have, how and where are they supposed to be used, etc.? Also a few sample textures/materials would ...

Re: Face Me Script

There is no readily available solution that works out of the box, but I think that the easiest is to hack the ParticleSystemOld component in order to achieve this. It's mostly likely not even particularly difficult, but it would take a bit time to implement it. Do you have some C++ developer who can...

Re: MegaScans and Cafu

Wow, many thanks for posting this!
I didn't know about this library at all, and the results look really good. Possibly a helpful and worthwhile resource for improving the terrain rendering in the future!

HTTPS

The entire Cafu website is now served exclusively via HTTPS. HTTPS is a protocol for secure communication over a computer network ( Wikipedia ). Although all of our content is open and readily available to everyone and even though the user logins are for authentication rather than for authorization,...

Re: Doors

I was looking into the rotating movers issue #156 first, because that is the slightly simpler problem and I was not aware if there are any priorities.
Regarding #157, don't expect results too quickly: this is a complicated problem that requires careful planning.

Re: Fog?

I came up with that looking at decals, I'm guessing its " blendFunc zero one_minus_src_color" which is probably not right? Yes, I think so. blendFunc zero one_minus_src_color can work well – if you have the proper texture for it, which must be specially colored (see some of the related de...

Re: Fog?

Faking it might be an option, using appropriately made translucent textures that are put on Bezier Patches or brushes with otherwise invisible sides.

Re: Doors

I guess now I need to figure out either a mouse/cursor click action or maybe keyboard input? ie a message to click a key to open or close At this time, the easiest solution by far is to use a trigger volume, possibly a very thin one so that the player must be very close to the door in order to open...

Re: Doors

In theory (I'm quite sure but have not tried), this can be done, especially if you can make it so that the door has two animation sequences: opening and closing.

The better solution however is (fixing #156 and) using the MoverBinary.
