Re: Sharing custom code

That is exactly how I imagined it to happen. I want to make it clear, I am not really making a game. I have decided to focus on expanding the number of components, scripts and tools in the game code to make it easier for people to pick the engine up and run with it. I am looking to essentially creat...

Re: Basic Lua Class Implementation

The Class code is for non-component code. Ie Game logic... There are plenty of things which could require a class hierarchy, such as Team, subclassed for PlayingTeams etc. These and other things which are not game entities, but could still be used in a hierarchical system. There may be other ways of...

Re: Sharing custom code

So i went ahead and did it anyway, just finishing tidying it up and a pull request will be sent to yuo shortly so you can add it to the mainstream cafu.

For general reference the git is hosted here:

Bug: Only movement keys work on game start

This bug has been in ever since I have been working with Cafu engine, but now I am using my slower laptop, the process is extended, this leads me to believe the problem is related to an update or think issue. Problem After pressing fire to spawn, the only keys that work are the movement keys. for a ...

Sharing custom code

Hi Carsten, I want people to have access to my game code etc, as part of cafu as default, but my ideas involve making a lot of changes to the component system, in terms of components used and the way they are constructed. So I was wondering how I would get this implemented. So I had a thought, rathe...

Re: Basic Lua Class Implementation

I have checked the example I modified for this code, and it does support grandfather inheritance. Here is a the example they use, modified to fit the class changes made to fit in with the Cafu engine: Simple inheritance is supported. For example, here a base class Animal is defined, and several spec...

Re: Basic Lua Class Implementation

I haven't tested Grandfather inheritance, I don't have enough code yet. It is an interesting point, and I will look into when I can.

I am afraid the limit of my current knowledge prevents me from understanding too much of what I am doing, but I am reading the links and getting better :)

Re: Unable to run mod in latest build

Thanks Carsten.

I've compiled the new file, but yet to start testing it. Will probably not be for a few days though. I'll keep you updated :D

Re: Using Shift+ to pick controls

For me I like the easier to remember option, and Ctrl+Shift isn't much of a hassle when working in the editor.

Re: Using Shift+ to pick controls

All you need to do is take all commands that currently use Shift+Key, and change them to Ctrl+Shift+Key

So for example selecting the terrain tool becomes Ctrl+Shift+T instead of current Shift+T.

This means Ctrl+Key commands are unaffected as well.

Basic Lua Class Implementation

I have modified a simple class code example for use in Cafu. It is a simple script file called Class.lua: --************************************************ -- Class.lua by Andy 'Soul Rider' Wilson -- -- This file creates a basic class inheritance -- structure. Class is intialized with an OnInit() -...

Re: Unable to run mod in latest build

Hi Carsten,

I have just started a new job, so my programming time is very limited at the moment. I would be very grateful if you could add this for me, so I could be more efficient with my limited time :)

Using Shift+ to pick controls

Hi Carsten, I have a problem when working in CaWE. The problem is the fact that you use commands consisting of Shift+key. This means I have to switch CapsLock on and off everytime I want to type a Capital Letter, and for me this is unnatural. I am always selecting various tools, instead of typing a ...
