Re: Getting going after set-up
So... I'm still not sure... would it help if I revised the make_binary.py script, making sure is good for use with the entity-component-system branch, so that you can use it to built a binary, self-contained release for others? That would be brilliant. It would make it much easier for me to get thi...

My First Piece of Code
I like to place little reminders about my current ability levels, so I can look back and laugh in the future about how much I didn't know. Here is my first piece of code for Cafu. I am a big fan of opening as much up as possible in lua, so to give someone an option to create a custom GUI for a parti...

Re: Getting going after set-up
Thanks for the replies. Here are a couple of clarifications :D If I understood your question right, please check out my recent reply to Andrey , where I have answered the same question, too. ;-) I don't see my question explained there. Normally, when you write an application, you can build it into a...

Getting going after set-up
I thought I'd start a new thread to ask a few questions that don't seem to be covered in the FAQ. Forgive me if they are. Do you know of a simple way to create a solution file for the project? Is there a way for me to clone your git repository across services? (I use GitHub). How do I compile the ga...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
This does work, but there are a few bugs.. I recompiled the map BPRockB to work with the new entity component system. However when testing it, there were one or two problems: Some brushes etc, from the Editor are visible in the map, such as the orange brushes that cover ladders. These also mean you ...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
Carsten, I think the issue has something to do with the instructions don't take into consideration the Target Build Type (x86) for example. In the instructions, you mention paths like this: build\win32\vc9\debug\CaWE\CaWE.exe But my system has built a path like this: build\win32\vc11\x86\debug\CaWE\...

Re: Compile error. Unknown complier on platform win32.
I have just been through a very similar issue in my thread. Scons does not work with 2013, it fails to recoginise it currently. This means you have to use VC2012 express. Remember 2012 requires environment parameter MSVC_VERSION="11.0Exp" Also, there are problems with the build in 64-Bit, it won't c...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
OK, I followed your instructions to build 32-bit and the engine compiled, but I now get errors when trying to launch anything. If I browse to: build\win32\vc11\x86\debug\CaWE\CaWE.exe and try to run it, I get the error: Could not find directory "CaWE" in (path to \CaWE). It seems to be looking for a...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
Thanks Carsten, I really appreciate this.
I can make do with building 32-bit for now, but it would certainly be nice to get a 64-build working successfully too. Who knows how much longer legacy support for 32 bit programs in 64-bit architecture is going to last...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
With the Target x86 line, I get this failure: wxbase30u.lib(baselib_intl.obj) : fatal error LNK1112: module machine type 'x64' conflicts with target machine type 'X86' scons: *** [build\win32\vc11\x86\release\Ca3DE\Cafu.exe] Error 1112 scons: building terminated because of errors. Re: Scons can't find my compiler
I see that is treating this warning as an error. I there anyway to loosen the tightness of the compile rules? It seems to my limited knowledge, that the compiler is getting in a bit of a mess with the fact you are calling a table, but data may be lost, as you are saving to a const int. I understand ...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
I didn't add the line. I've left the environment field blank to use defaults. I would love it to build in 64-bit if possible, but whatever it does, is what it does. As per the instructions on the install page, I used the 32-bit version of python, and ran everything, this error is the fault it is stu...

Re: Scons can't find my compiler
Thanks for the help.
I will go the 2012 route for now. I don't want to add too many more headaches to the job already
