Re: Creating Entities with CaWE
The intention would be to create entities that appear in a list for use in the editor, like you have currently for components. They would be map entities, but they would also be part of the game, for example as mentioned spawn points and triggers, initially it is those that I am interested in. This ...

Re: Creating Entities with CaWE
Thanks for the reply Carsten, that really helps. I really appreciate the fantastic work you continue to do on the engine, and your never-ending support for questions and problems. I am aware the current system is designed so that all entities are created and controlled through lua scripts, but I was...

Creating Entities with CaWE
Currently, you create a new entity and add the relevant components to it via the editor to make the entity you want. This is great and very helpful, but has some drawbacks when it comes to using standardized entities. I am looking for a way to be able to pre-define entities and allow mappers to plac...

Re: Creating a basic trigger volume
Thanks, that's great. I realised that by using the trigger material on the brush entity, it worked. I will update my working version now. I am currently working on an old laptop, which is just capable of running the game at 23fps. I am not actually back online properly until late september at least,...

Re: Creating a basic trigger volume
It may be a mis-understanding on my part here, but if I make an entity from a brush, will that brush be visible in world? If not, do I need to use a specific texture on the brush, or does making it an entity remove the brush from the world automatically? EDIT---- Ignore that question, of course it w...

Re: Creating a basic trigger volume
I am aware the entity disappears when I deselect it, that is not an issue,as I just reselect the entity from the entity list. I am not trying to assign a brush to an entity, I am trying to rescale the 16x16x16 entity marker that appears when a new entity is created. I can succesfully transform it (m...

Re: Creating a basic trigger volume
That looks great, the only thing it is missing is a scale component, so I can scale trigger size. Is there any scale tools already written within cafu? or do I need to make separate scale component?

Creating a basic trigger volume
I would like to create a basic trigger component. This will be used as a base for death triggers, team join triggers amongst other things. I have read through the collision model code, but that doesn't seem to cover exactly what I want. I understand triggers are passive, but I need a generic map pla...

Bug when working with new GUI.
Hey Carsten.
I can create a new GUI in CaWE. I select create choice, and enter choices. When clicking into the selection number field, CaWE crashes with a send to windows error. This happens every time without fail.
Let me know of anything you need to try and diagnose the problem.

Re: Help with a Team component
Thanks Carsten. Everything working correctly so far.
It seems that changes to AllComponents.cpp causes a large portion of the engine to be rebuilt

Re: Help with a Team component
Quick question, How do I get my new component to show up in CaWE?
I have added it to the HumanPlayer component, but I also want to add it to the editor list of components, so I can make objects team specific within the maps.

Re: Help with a Team component
Well, now that is sorted, all seems to be ok. Component compiles correctly, woohoo. A quick question about scripts. I have noticed for example the door object script. It has no C++ component code, it appears to be a script created entirely in lua from components. Is this correct? It sure makes thing...

Re: Help with a Team component
OK, I have read your instructions on get() and set(), and yet I cannot get them working.... When I use this code: int ComponentTeamT::GetTeamNumber(lua_State* LuaState) { int tn = ComponentTeamT:get("TeamNum"); lua_pushinteger(LuaState, tn); return 1; } int ComponentTeamT::SetTeamNumber(lua_State* L...

Re: Help with a Team component
Thanks a lot for the help so far. I will go through it again, and then will update with any further issues I am having. As I am a play and learn person, I generally ask questions until I reach a better understanding :) I am really enjoying taking on this project, it is great fun, although a little b...

Help with a Team component
As I am very new to C++, I am having troubles creating my Team Component. There are a few syntax errors, but I am a bit confused so I'd thought I'd post my work so far, and look for some explanations on what I am doing wrong, and what I am not understanding. I am trying to create a CompTeam, but I s...
