As Stormstrooper's textures are not really "technical surfaces", I believe height map (or grey scaled image) generated normal maps are sufficient, for the most part. Well, I will certainly use them for Project Mayhem. I can also make the normal maps if you wish. Here is a test I did with the asphalt3 image. I am very pleased with the initial results.
