Uhm that is not exactly true, Scott
A good software is not helping you creating good content, that means that even the best tools can fail if the user is not able to handle them.
XSI is a real good software, its maybe the best when you need the highest level animation or photorealistic movie composites.
However XSI is not easy to handle, if you just need a simple modelling tool, XSI would not automatically the best choice.
So its better to invest the time to use a good basic modelling tool, than spend more time in learning another, very different tool.
What software is better than other depends by the users skill, software can only give a real good workflow.
Oh yeah while so many guns are shown here i created a simple concept for a handgun , its not a realistic one, 'cause there are soo many existing around the web.
And of course a realistic design would not really fit into the techdemo, which is more futuristic.
