Hi all,

just for your information, this software was recently mentioned on http://www.opengl.org:

MakeHuman - http://www.dedalo-3d.com/index.php

I've not yet tried it out, but it looks pretty interesting to me... ;-)
Best regards,
Carsten

Well... not really. There have been very good begins in the past, but none eventually succeeded to fully replace the existing (old) models. This is of course also related to available and supported model file formats and their related tools.
Of course, I'm always looking on such things from the programmers perspective, and one of my really big goals for the time after the upcoming release is to finally get much better support for models.
I've already a pretty good concept in mind in this regard, and I posted the above link only because it looks like a promising way to create human body models quickly (a very worthwhile feature when e.g. you just want to try new code out without bothering much about the artistic details ;-) ).
Best regards,
Carsten
