Where are the turorials???

Post by hal9000 » 2012-10-03, 15:41

Hello. I just registered to this forum. Downloaded the Cafu engine and followed the (only) tutorial, Your First Map, on the cafu website.
Frankly, it's a very powerful engine :!: , but how about some tutorials not long a documentation! It's a pity :( when other game engines have tutorials on their site, youtube...
Thanks and keep up the good work

Thanks for your feedback, it is most welcome!

If you search http://www.cafu.de/wiki/ for "tutorial" and "video", you'll find that we have a total of
  • seven flash and
  • two video
tutorials. (I added the two "video" links only a moment ago. ;-) )

The problem with tutorials is that their making involves huge amounts of effort (thereby reducing the time we can spend on improving the software), and that changing software easily obsoletes the tutorials.

If you would like to help with making more tutorials, or have specific questions that you feel the documentation is inadequate of, any feedback or help would much be appreciated!
Best regards,
Carsten

Aye, the lack of tutorials makes me feel that this engine is under-appreciated.

Basically, more supporters could produce more tutorials.

And yes, tutorials are prone to being obsolete since this engine grows fast.

Thanks for your prompt response!!!
I'm sorry I didn't mean to be harsh. I'll follow these links to get me started.
I know tutorials take alot of effort and time (my work asks me basicly the same thing) Seven and two are considerably a big effort.
Nice site btw. Keep up the good work.
