Und ich hab leider übrigens nicht die geringste Ahnung, wann einer von euch Geburtstag hat...

Had a nice relaxed day today! Finally got around to install "SCons" ( http://www.scons.org ), the software construction tool and "make" replacement that I want to employ to control the Ca3DE build process in the future. I've been toying with the thought to install it for several months now, but there have always been "more important" issues, so I took the opportunity today.
SCons also requires and is written in Python ( http://www.python.org ), so I installed that too and read a good amount of the documentation.

Nothing will change for the Ca3DE end products, just the way how they are created from source code, a task that is handled much better by SCons than by the ancient "make" tool. I still have to write the SConsfiles though (replacements for the Makefiles), so that it will take another while until I can complete the change from "make" to SCons.

The only downside is that people who want to compile the SDK code will most likely need SCons + Python, too. However, they are both easy and lightweight to install. Alternatively or additionally, project files for the Microsoft Visual C++ IDE might be created that can be used directly by those who want to avoid SCons.
