ASE. will mainly be used for a fast export from Max directly into Ca3d without the disturbing compiling steps that MDL requires.
It works well so far and even for very highpoly objects (20k and more)
To answer your questions:
I hope so ^^ Collision for modelobjects is still not implemented. This feature needs to be implemented into the engine not the modelformatwill they have collision
So far collision is only based on levelgeometry.
Hmm well its implemented and workswill they be able to use smoothing groups
