sounds interesting, i'm still not sure how WXwidgets are integrated into the system?

wxWidgets is used to implement CaWE, isn't that obvious?

CaWE is the World Editor, it is used to create the space ("maps") the player is navigating in.

CaWE creates the source files for those worlds and is like this an important part in game development.
