Ca3DE MDK Graphical Surfaces V 2.0 WIP Thread

Post by Thrawn » 2005-10-28, 16:21

Hi all,

yesterday, I started to program a totally new version of my MDK graphical surfaces tools. It is not just a bit of improving, everything is new.

What you can see here is a design study. I originally programmed the tools because I'm too lazy for console commands. Now I even got too lazy to work with my own tools. So I sat down and thought how to improve them.
That's the result (map compiler):

Image

- It's now just 1 program with 4 tabs, instead of 4 small programs
-> less switching needed, faster workflow, takes less space in the task bar
- You don't have to type in the mod and map names anymore - you can select them
-> even lazier people will love the tool, you don't your keyboard at all now
- less buttons, radio buttons replace them
-> clearer appearance
- Run map function
-> you don't have to start Ca3DE and then select the map to play it

-------------------------------

As I said, that are my ideas, I don't know if I can get them all to work, but I will try to! Maybe I'll even integrate new programs, shader writers(if I become pro  )! Comments&Critics are welcome!

I'll keep you up to date!

Wow, Thrawn, that looks great! :wohow:
I acutally think that all four points that you mentioned are crucial enhancements!
Seems like I should eventually move all the individual exe's to a bin/ subdirectory, and just place your new tool in the main directory... 8)
Best regards,
Carsten

Yeah, it would be right to do such changes within the next days, so I can program the tools to work right after this changes. Let's chat about this within the next few days!
