The world editor program can convert and load vmf file types, the kind used by Half-Life 2. I was able to port a Half-Life 2 map file and the solids were kept mostly intact except for the displacements. The map does compile successfully but for some reason the player character does not spawn in the game world if the left mouse button is pressed, this map is being tested with the 'Deathmatch' example game included with initial Cafu installation.
Does anyone have any explanation for this? How can it be fixed? I would like to be able to move the player character around in the game world to see the map.
welcome to the Cafu forums!
Which version are you using?
Ideally you should use a version compiled from the latest Git source code.
I am glad to be here!
I am using the precompiled binary version from the main website, https://www.cafu.de/dive-in/. Is this version of cafu significantly different from the latest Git version? The build date for my CaWE is 16, August, 2017 and the game program itself was built on 24, April, 2019.
If you like, you can send me your map file so that I can have a look at the problem.
Alternatively, check if your player entity setup corresponds to the setup in the example maps.
Seeing that the map source is public I see no problem in sharing the file with you. I will send the archive containing the files to firstname.lastname@example.org. The forums will not accept any zip or rar type archives...
