Im a noob in everything but I made my first weapon skin ever. Its cheap and ugly but better than nothing

Model isn't by me and the whole thing isnt for Ca3DE

I got a new digital camera and tried making seamless photo textures for myself. Here are my first attempts:

that first gravelish 1 might get a bit repetitive when tiled...
i know psp has a seamless tiling effect that alters the image to tile better that helps alot!

I decided to put a photo texture pack together and release it to the Ca3DE community for using it there. At the moment i've got 27 textures and more will follow. Here are some new textures I made yesterday... I'll keep you up to date

This one is not completely seamless and should only be used for smaller parts...

Yes, of course. I will create normal maps etc for them too, at the end when the diffuse maps have been tested ingame...

Killer: Would look even better with normal maps :D But the weapon itself looks excellent

Well, I will certainly use them for Project Mayhem. I can also make the normal maps if you wish.

Here is a test I did with the asphalt3 image. I am very pleased with the initial results.

Wow, that looks amazing, 10 times better i ever expected them to be :D The M203 also looks very good

@ Normal maps: Well, that's very nice of you. I don't know how you create your normal maps... I use the nvidia photoshop plugin to generate them. If you have a better method to make them, it would be very kind of you to help me with the normal maps!

Sure Stormtrooper. I will send you a pm soon with the information on how I created the normal maps.

Here's a link to a zip file with all your textures and a normal map for each - http://www.mysqlsoftware.net/AmbushStud ... php?view.5

I have not tested all of them in game, yet.

Also, I may need to delete the zip from my server soon, as I don't want to exceed the bandwidth on my server. So let me know when you have them uploaded to your host.

I have done some research for psp normal map plugins, but have found nothing useful.

I am using the HL2 height2normal.exe program. It is very easy to use. I think that Carsten should have a good look at this program. I believe the Ca3D TextureViewer is supposed to have something similar, but I can not get it to function.

Here's a couple more screens of Stormtroopers textures, with and without normals.

Amazing difference!

Well, I (and others) was/were certainly happy about the description, too.
So if you don't mind, please post it publicly (maybe in a new thread).
It's always nice to learn something. ;)
Best regards,
Carsten
